The Sensex opened 162 points lower at 10,805 and soon touched a low of 10,719 on the back of negative cues from the overseas markets coupled with earnings warning by Infosys.
Experts say, investors will be better off exiting them at higher levels and investing in stocks of fundamentally sound companies.

The Nifty too reversed its trend, and ended with a gain of 33 points at 4,986, after a gap of three trading days. BSE market breadth was fairly positive. Out of 2,885 stocks traded, 1,693 advanced while 1,109 declined on the BSE.
The broad-based NSE Nifty rose 52.80 points, or 0.50 per cent, to end at 10,530.70
The Nifty closed below the psychological mark of 5k at 4,987, lower by 54 points. Realty, energy and bank stocks were the major draggers.
Shares of power, IT, tech, utilities and capital goods firmed up
Wipro rose the most, up 3.12 per cent, ahead of its board meeting to discuss buyback of shares.
The NSE Nifty settled at 4,819, up five points. Among the sectoral indices, realty index slipped 2% to 4,317. Metal and bankex indices on the other hand gained over 1% each.
Top laggards in the Sensex pack included HDFC, ICICI Bank, TCS, HCL Tech, Kotak Bank, Asian Paints, TechM and HUL, dropping up to 2.67 per cent.
NTPC was the top gainer among the Sensex stocks, rising by 3.53 per cent. Coal India, ONGC and Sun Pharma also rose up to 2.41 per cent.
BSE Mid-cap index ended lower by over 2.5% and BSE Small-cap index tumbled over 3%.
The Sensex opened 47 points higher at 15,744 despite the negative close in the US markets and touched a day's high of 15,790. Unabated selling in realty, banking and IT stocks pushed the index into a negative zone. The index drifted to a low of 15,390 - down 400 points from day's high.

The Sensex on Tuesday opened with a huge positive gap of 474 points at 14,758 on positive cues from the US markets, but soon slipped into the red and touched a low of 13,834.
Most of the 30-Sensex constituents led by M&M, Adani Ports, BhartiAirtel, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, Cipla, HDFC Ltd, ONGC and Hind Unilever were trading in negative terrain, falling by up to 5.77 per cent.

Renewed buying interest in banking stocks helped the index recoup losses in the second half of the trading day. The Sensex finally ended with a loss of 63 points at 8,892. The index, however, was up 49 points for the week. The NSE Nifty ended down 22 points at 2,764.

The broader Nifty of National Stock Exchange scaled the 10,200 mark intra day before closing at 10,184.85, showing a sizeable gain of 38.30 points, or 0.38 per cent.

The Nifty gained 15 points to close at 4,748.

Top laggards in the Sensex pack included Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, L&T, SBI, Tata Steel and Axis Bank, falling up to 3.46 per cent.
Coal India topped the losers' list in the Sensex pack on Tuesday, falling 2.36 per cent, followed by Bharti Airtel at 2.16 per cent.
After a positive opening, the 30-share BSE Sensex suddenly faced selling pressure in late-afternoon trade. It finally settled just 5.67 points, or 0.01 per cent, lower at 39,586.41.
The markets breadth was negative - out of 2,717 stocks traded, 1,804 declined, 842 advanced and 71 were unchanged on Thursday. The index moved in a range of 207 points between 15,052 (low) and 15,259 (high). The NSE Nifty ended with a loss of 78 points at 4,504.
Fresh buying in banking and realty stocks helped the index to touch a day's high of 15,733 - up 375 from day's low.
